1) Apply foundation on your lips before applying lipstick. Mineral foundation works best.
2) One of the things that will help your lipstick look its best is to use a lip brush to put on the lipstick instead of applying it directly from the tube. As we age we get small crevasses in our lips, when you use the lipstick from the tube the color lays...
What’s in your conventional beauty products?
Did you know the average women apply more than 500 chemicals to her body every day during her beauty routine?
Daily millions of women slap on conventional body lotions, moisturizers, lipsticks, makeup, mascara without a second thought about what they are putting on their skin or what these products are made from.
Why you should be concerned?
There are so many negative effects from using conventional beauty products. Chemicals such as parabens ( a synthetic preservative in everything from toothpaste to shampoo) and phthalates (a class of chemicals that are found in many “fragranced beauty products such as lotions, moisturizers, makeup, perfumes, and deodorants) are classified as xenoestrogens.
Xenoestrogens mimic our natural estrogens creating hormone chaos by increasing the total amount of estrogen, resulting in a condition called estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance has been implicated in many conditions including breast and prostate, obesity, infertility, endometriosis, uterin fibroids, early onset puberty and PMS.
Are you alarmed yet?
Protect yourself and start reading labels and stay informed. Start paying attention to the toxins that your body religiously absorbs.
Here at Gia Minerals we want to educate & empower you to make...
Are you finding that the winters are drying to your skin, switch to good cream cleanser.
Using a soap cleanser or foaming cleanser on your face is very drying. Soap has a high PH balance and is very harsh on your face. Perfume, deodorant, and properties of soap are not good for your skin.
Cream cleansers are gentler to your skin while leaving the face moist and nourished. A good cleanser should wash away impurities without drying, irritating or causing redness. Make sure you are 100% fragrance free, the face is a very sensitive skin, and fragrance additives irritate it.
Choose a cream cleanser that penetrates deep into pores to dissolve dirt, oil and makeup and make sure it’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants to nourish skin. Be gentle to your face, make sure you don’t rub face hard and use a soft cloth to dry.
Try our Green Tea Cleanser for deep clean also formulated with Organic Aloe Chamomile, Lavender, Grapeseed oil, Vitamin E, Rosemary and many more rich oils and antioxidants that leave skin nourished and silky smooth.
Sherry's Makeup Application: We have provided her with wonderful palette to brighten up her face and give her an even tone. First step is to make sure her face is moisturized with our Silk Moisturizing Therapeutic Repair Cream ready for makeup application.
On Sherry we used our Beige Foundation followed by Petal Setting Powder. Added warmth with Sun Bronzed Bronzer and color to her cheeks with Pretty Pink Blush.
Her beautiful green eyes are enhanced with Peach Fuzz Eye Shadow all over the eye lid and brow bone area. On the outer corner Brandy Eye Shadow with a bronzy satin finish (great for green eyes). As for the eye liner we used a beautiful navy Neptune to compliment the eyes and bring things together. The Neptune Eye liner was a wet application on her eye for more intensity. We luminized her cheek bones with her favorite Sassy-Glisten Glow. For the finale applied our new organic popular Burnt Plum Lipstick.
Sherry has been a customer with Gia Minerals since the start of our business. She originally came to us because her toxicity level was tested and was extremely high. She had done her research and wanted...
One may ask what organic beauty means to me. Beauty should definitely not be toxic; it should be chemical free with clean ingredients.
Did you know that the average woman applies more than 200 chemicals to her skin by using her skin care products in one day? Did you know that 60% of these chemicals are further absorbed into your bloodstream? These are two of the main reasons that organic skincare is one of the fastest growing areas of the beauty industry today. The more we learn about the bitter side effects of unhealthy skincare, the more quickly we will seek out other options.
My decision to go organic and non-toxic has changed my overall health and beauty practices. It sure has made a difference in my skin.
Organic beauty is my life—literally. I started Gia Minerals because of my sensitive skin so I decided to create my own product line of skincare and cosmetics. I created products based on ingredients I personally wanted in a skincare range and one that I knew would enable people to experience first-hand the many benefits of using certified organic, healthy, natural products. I personally wanted the best for my skin and for my...
Olive Oil For a Perfect Complexion
Moisturizing your skin is an important part of any skin care regimen. It's not only vital in maintaining a youthful appearance, but it's actually good for your skin and your overall health.
Go back to the basics with olive oil which leaves skin soft and supple. Olive oil has great benefits to the skin. The Ancient Greeks new how that extra virgin olive oil was one of the best beauty secrets.
In addition to being a natural, hypoallergenic way to moisturize skin, extra organic virgin olive oil has the added advantage of providing strong antioxidants, like Vitamins A and E that help repair and renew skin that has been damaged from overexposure to sun, air pollution, and other modern-day environmental hazards. These antioxidants have the natural ability to stimulate cells and return skin to a firmer, smoother, and healthier state.
To provide a slightly more scientific explanation, this damage is related to the destructive activity of oxygen-related free radicals produced by skin cells. Polyphenolic components of olive oil have been compared to traditional antioxidants, such as tocopherols, to prevent skin damage. The rich emollients in olive oil allow just a little to go a...
Tips, Ideas & Tricks
Our eyes define a lot about our face and act as a letter of introduction each time we connect with another person’s gaze. They are a very important physical feature on our face.
Tip 1- Take good care of your eyebrows. Groom them tidily. That becomes the foundation of shaping your eyes. Go for a well arched brow without stray hairs not to thin or thick.
Tip 2- Use a lighter shade luminizer or a base color all over the lid and under the brow to lighten the eyes. Choose a color that is not the same as your skin tone something brighter.
Tip 3-Then add a slightly darker color shadow at the outer edge of the upper eyelid where you feel the bone.
Tip 4- Avoid using black eyeliner it will make your eyes appear even smaller. Effectively you want a liner that shows off your eye color. Use navy, dark grey, darker green or brown eyeliners. Blues, greens, purples enhance brown eyes, while browns, deep purples, navy are great for green and blue eyes. Powder eyeliners give you an advantage for a wider...
Why buy mineral makeup?
Mineral makeup products are natural and allow your skin to ‘breathe’. They feel lighter on the skin yet provide plenty of coverage plus commonly, offer a natural SPF. Mineral ingredients won’t clog the pores or aggravate sensitivity in the skin, so are a good option for acne prone skins and those experiencing Rosacea and sensitive skin. If you suffer from allergies and just can’t tolerate artificial colours, perfumes or chemicals, maybe mineral is for you! Mature skins love minerals for the light diffusing and illuminating properties too, meaning fine lines appear softened and pigmentation is camouflaged.
When shopping for mineral makeup there are a few things to look for in making sure you have made the correct choice for your skin. Make sure that the mineral makeup is a powder form. You might ask why? There are plenty products claiming to be natural mineral makeup, however are in liquid from or pressed powder form. When a substance is heated it undergoes a chemical change therefore it is no longer in its natural state. Also the ingredients that made it become a solid or a liquid is not natural ingredient. For example take your vegetables when you...
Shaving Tips & Techniques: How to Get the Best Shave
Proper wet shaving techniques, quality products and post-shaving skin care can help you look and feel your best and help avoid razor burn, razor bumps and irritation. A good, close shaves with Gias shaving cream followed by the right facial washes and after shave moisturizer products go hand in hand to achieve optimum skin health. And, it can turn a chore into a pleasant morning ritual. This guide has been adapted from our professional barber handbook - used in our master classes that teach barbers the proper wet shaving service.
1) Make Sure Your Beard is thoroughly wet
One of the keys to a great close shave without irritation or razor burn is to make sure your beard is thoroughly wet. Facial hair will absorb moisture up to 30% of its volume. Hair swollen with water becomes quite weak and therefore easier to cut. Showering before shaving is the ideal way to ensure you beard is properly moistened. If a shower is not possible, rinse your face and then apply a warm moistened towel to your face for at least a couple of minutes. This is the technique that barbers...
Serums are a skin care product with high concentrations of certain active ingredients. These ingredients can be things like hyaluronic acid (to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles), vitamin C (to brighten the skin and help reduce the appearance of pigmentation and age spots). One may ask what the difference between a moisturizer and a serum is; Moisturizers are formulated to keep the skin hydrated by putting a protective barrier between it and the outside. Serums are formulated to penetrate deeply into the skin to deliver key ingredients. The molecules in a serum are smaller than those in a moisturizer. This means it can deposit ingredien ts deeper into the skin. Gia Skin Care serums are truly magnificent and deliver nutrients to all skin types. The difference can be quite remarkable, provided you use the serum correctly and consistently. Serums are applied after cleansing and toning, but before your moisturizer. Ideally, apply the serum while your skin is still slightly damp from cleansing. As with cleansing and moisturizing, don’t forget to include your neck and upper chest when applying the serum.
